For the first time, Webcuts 2006 will be awarding prizes in different categories to reflect the growing
diversity of internet films.
The winners of the various award categories will be selected by the jury. Besides the software packages
the winners will get the digital trophy "WebKatz"
Furthermore, there will of course be an audience award again. The audience in the cinema can cast its votes on a ballot paper, those watching
the live stream will be able to use the online voting.
Webcuts.06 Jury
To reflect the broad spectrum of entries and their interdisciplinary nature, the jury will consist of renowned experts from the fields of new media, design and film.
So far, the following members of the jury are confirmed:
Ludwig von Reiche, mental images
...is the Chief Operating Officer (and Geschäftsführer) of mental images GmbH, the Berlin, Germany-based developer of globally leading visualization software products, including the Academy Award® winning rendering software mental ray® and RealityServer®, a new server-based 3D collaboration platform.
Ilona Koglin, Page
...is editor of the german web and design magazine "Page".
Prof. Susanne Mayer
...Professor at Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart, dept of Audiovisual Media for Graphic Arts and Screen Design; free projects include re-designing CD of Hochschule der Medien in 2002; book publication in 2003; establishing HdM Gallery in 2004.
Gerrit Wahle, UFA
...as Head of Business Development & Strategy, Gerrit Wahle has been supporting UFA's management in strategic and media political issues since 2003. From June 2006 on he also heads the unit UFA Interactive which identifies and develops new business models and supports UFA's labels in production of new media programmes.
Prof. Eku Wand
..in 1993 he has founded the multimedia studio "eku interactive" and realized various interactive new media projects. He is also a producer and publisher of edutainment CD-ROM titels and computer games. Since 2001 he is professor for Media Design/ Multimedia at the Institute for New Media of the Braunschweig University of Art. His works have been presented at numerous media festivals around the world and have won various prizes and distinctions.
Prof. Ulrich Weinberg
...in 1994 Ulrich Weinberg was appointed to work as a Professor for computer animation at the HFF, Germanies largest film and TV school in Potsdam. Several years position as vice president of HFF. Since 2004 director of DMI Digital Media Institute at HFF. Since 2004 visiting professor at Communication University of China CUC, Beijing and Jilin Art College - Animation School, Changchun.
Sven Assmann
...has a large new media experience as a art director and is spezialized in film and dvd authoring. He is teaching at L4 in Berlin and chairman of multimedia union Interface!Berlin too.
